Sales trainers and strong leaders know that helping one another is a key ingredient in overcoming obstacles and walking in sales victory. We must be "other centered."
I remember a few years ago when I was the senior pastor of a church I wrote a sermon for Thanksgiving. After some thought and prayer I titled my sermon: “Who's thankful for you?" I asked the church members to take a moment and determine whether they could make a list of the people who would thank God for them! It seems that sometimes we spend a lot of time being thankful for our things, our possessions, our family, etc. Today I ask you, "Who's thankful for you?"
I like to share the following story as I travel and work as a motivational speaker and sales trainer…
“An African American man was walking along 42nd Street in New York City one afternoon many years ago. He was carrying two large heavy suitcases. Suddenly, someone touched his shoulder and said, "Pretty heavy brother; suppose you let me take one. I'm going your way." The two men walked along for several blocks talking as though they were old friends. "And that" said Booker T. Washington, "Was the first time I ever saw Theodore Roosevelt!"
Did you help your child(ren) yesterday? Did you help your spouse with household chores? Did you help one who was stranded or a passerby who looked lost? Did you befriend a co-worker? There's a commercial message that invites us to reach out and touch somebody. That's good. Empowered people and leaders do that. "Pretty heavy friend, suppose you let me help you." That's the stuff of which vibrant living is made. Have a great Thanksgiving. This year, I will be in Dubai over the holiday. I’ll be away from my family and kids. I’ll be alone, and when I go to bed, I’m going to make a long list of those I’m thankful for. The question is, “Who’s thankful for you?”
Happy Thanksgiving!
Make it a great selling day and remember…
